About Me
My name is Lisa Yamanaka, Japanese American quilter and owner of Sozo Quilts. Over the years, my passion for quilting has transformed from a simple creative pursuit to a spiritual practice of connecting the past, present, and future through the preservation and creation of heirloom quilts. Whether you have a cherished family textile in disrepair, or have materials you'd like made into a custom heirloom, I am here to help bridge the gap by creating a tangible symbol of connection to generations before to enjoy in the present and for generations in the future.
Quilting and working with textiles has given me a medium to connect with my own family history and culture in a way I had not been able to in the past, and I feel great joy to be able to use my skills to assist others in making that connection in their own lives. Every quilt that passes through my studio will be imbued with that appreciation and thoughtful energy in every stitch and every patch of fabric to create something more than just a blanket.
